More Summer Ice Cream - In Wonderful Wickenburg

Some 35 years ago the Chaparral Homemade Ice Cream Store began operating out of one of the old, historic brick buildings in downtown Wickenburg.  Scoops and cones of cool, delightful ice cream of various flavors have been passing out of the front door with happy customers ever since.  But it was only when current owners, Pam and Tony Rovida, bought the Chaparral in 2009 that this ol’ Arizona ice cream parlor began to generate the reputation of being something “really special!”
You certainly know you are somewhere different when you walk into the front door and are greeted with the black and white décor. Memories of another, slower era come to mind as you gaze across the menu boards and read the command, “Welcome to the Chaparral, Where It Is Understood – No Dinner Until You Eat All Your Desert.”
Here at the Chaparral, Pam and Tony have made ice cream the star attraction.  All the traditional flavors are here (vanilla, cookies & cream, etc.) but so too are their family special flavors like Chocolate Brownie Chunk, and Hassayampa Mud and their most famous flavor - Prickly Pear.  The colors of their Purple Boysenberry is specifically made to honor past, current and future Wickenburg High School Wranglers.  Ice cream specifically made to honor the local high school – is there anything better than small town America?
Pam and Tony are hands-on owners of their ice cream parlor. Chances are you will meet them both when you walk through their business doors.  Only the best and healthiest of ingredients go into all their offerings.  No pre-made food is served here nor is any high fructose corn syrup ever included.  They have also created a full lunch and dinner menu to go along with their ice cream delights with such unique menu item names as the Jail Tree Sandwich.
Pam and Tony’s hard work has begun to gather the attention of others whose business it is to award excellence.  Trip Advisor awarded the Chaparral their “2012 Certificate of Excellence”.  The “Tip of the Stetson – 2010” was awarded by the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce.  Here too is a link to their story from a segment of Arizona Highways television -   http://www.chaparral-icecream.com/az-highways-tv.html
So if you are looking for a really great way to cool down this summer, why not get out and make that short drive to Wickenburg and experience for yourself one of the really great ice cream parlors of Arizona – Chaparral Homemade Ice Cream.  Remember, “No Dinner Until You Eat Your Dessert!”
